孫大雨信中主要是他1956年的論文《詩歌底格律》，被何其芳和卞之琳"利用"而未感謝。
孫大雨致卞之琳的信中還說，1935年卞之琳問他Queen Victoria 400次左右，"書出版....又在書中絕無一點起碼的誌感的道德品質的表示。
又，"你譯Hamlet，若未見我的莎譯《黎琊王》，你怎麼譯莎作五音步素體韻文行(blank verse)？"
